The Shure Model 839 is a compact lavalier condenser microphone designed for sound reinforcement applications where a small, high-quality mic is essential. Its wide frequency response, low distortion, and resistance to RF interference, along with reliable performance in extreme temperature and humidity conditions, make it ideal for use in venues such as clubs, hotels, schools, and churches—anywhere speakers or performers need clear, unobtrusive sound without the bulk of traditional microphones and stands. The 839 features an acoustically generated high-frequency boost for a flatter response when worn as a lavalier. Additionally, its 12 dB/octave rolloff below 100 Hz minimizes room noise and other unwanted low-frequency sounds. The microphone is powered by either a 9-volt alkaline battery (offering 2500 hours of continuous use) or via phantom power from external sound reinforcement or recording equipment.
