The DB25b is a passive direct box with transformer balancing. It includes a Ground Lift switch to eliminate hum and an Attenuator control that adjusts the input signal from -20dB to -infinity dB. This attenuation allows the DB25b to be connected to line-level or even speaker-level signals, while routing them to a balanced line or microphone input on a mixer. Additionally, the two 1/4-inch inputs are paralleled pass-throughs, enabling you to send the input signal to a tuner, preamp, or other devices.
