The DC 5980 P is a versatile and fully-featured standard discussion unit designed for chairpersons, delegates, or interpreters in conference settings. Utilizing DCS 6000 technology, it ensures fully digital audio transmission with encrypted sound to protect against eavesdropping.

The unit supports DCS-LAN daisy chain topology with loop-through connections, or can be configured in star topology using junction boxes. It requires CAT 5e or higher F/UTP or U/FTP cabling for the DCS-LAN, accommodating up to 250 discussion units per system.

Key features include four microphone operation modes—Automatic, FIFO, Manual, and VOX (voice activation)—as well as delegate interrupt mode and auto-off for microphones. The lockable XLR gooseneck microphone connector ensures secure use, and the unit also features a high-quality loudspeaker for clear audio.

In addition, the unit supports channel selectors for the floor channel and two interpretation channels, with a headphone socket for DH 6021 or similar headsets. The ‘Speak’ and delegate off/mute buttons are customizable, and the button overlay can be easily changed for different functions. An optional cable clamp is available to secure the DCS-LAN loop-through cables, ensuring a stable setup.
